NCT ID NCT07141459

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether using a special laser to disinfect the root canal can lower inflammation and pain after a root canal has failed. Fifty-two adults with a failed root canal and a visible infection on X-ray will receive either standard cleaning plus the laser or standard cleaning alone. The main goal is to measure levels of inflammatory chemicals and pain scores after treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
810 nm diode laser disinfection
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a better way to manage pain and infection after a failed root canal, reducing the need for repeat procedures.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 52 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The laser is an add-on to standard care, not a replacement.
