Laser acupuncture may ease chemo sickness in kids
NCT ID NCT03354741
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether using a low-frequency laser on an acupuncture point (P6) can help prevent nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy in children aged 2 to 20. The 30 participants received the laser treatment alongside standard anti-nausea drugs. The goal was to see if adding laser acupuncture could reduce or eliminate vomiting and nausea during and after chemotherapy.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
low-frequency laser therapy applied to acupuncture point P6
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a non-drug way to reduce chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in children.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early study with only 30 participants, so results may not apply to all children. The laser therapy may not provide additional benefit over standard antiemetic drugs.
