New gel injection aims to ease knee pain without surgery

NCT ID NCT07646483

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a gel called Conjuran can reduce pain in people with knee osteoarthritis better than the current standard treatment, Hyruan. About 180 adults with mild to moderate knee arthritis will receive two cycles of injections, each cycle consisting of five weekly shots. Researchers will measure pain changes using a standard pain scale and track any side effects.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Conjuran (polynucleotide sodium gel) and Hyruan (sodium hyaluronate)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a new option for repeat injections to ease knee osteoarthritis pain without surgery.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage trial with only 180 people, so results may not apply to everyone. It compares Conjuran to an existing treatment, not a placebo, so any benefit may be modest.
