New study aims to improve knee pain relief by testing better targeting methods

NCT ID NCT04472702

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests two ways to guide a treatment called cooled radiofrequency ablation for knee osteoarthritis pain. The treatment uses heat to calm nerves around the knee. Researchers want to see if using ultrasound is better than the standard X-ray method for targeting the right nerves. About 90 adults with knee pain that hasn't improved with other treatments will take part.
