Which angle builds stronger knees? small study tests two positions
NCT ID NCT07456254
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether changing the angle of a leg exercise machine (N-K Table) from 0° to 50° helps people with knee osteoarthritis activate their thigh muscles more. Forty-three women aged 50-65 with knee osteoarthritis did isotonic knee extensions at both angles. Muscle activity was measured using surface electromyography. The goal is to find the best angle for strengthening exercises.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Isotonic quadriceps exercise using N-K Table at different load angles
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help physical therapists choose the best exercise angle to strengthen thigh muscles in people with knee osteoarthritis.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed study with only 43 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It measures muscle activation, not long-term pain or function improvement.
