Tape or laser: which eases Post-Mastectomy arm swelling better?
NCT ID NCT06808178
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested two non-drug treatments—kinesio taping and low-level laser therapy—on 66 women with arm swelling (lymphedema) after mastectomy for stage II breast cancer. The goal was to see which method better reduced arm size, improved hand grip strength, and eased shoulder pain. Results could help guide simple, at-home or clinic-based care for this common side effect.

kinesio taping and low-level laser therapy
What this could lead to
If effective, these therapies could offer non-drug options to reduce arm swelling and improve quality of life for women after breast cancer surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed study with no blinding or long-term follow-up, so results may not apply broadly. The treatments are supportive, not curative.
