Summary
This study tests an 8-week program called KINDER, designed to help family caregivers of people with dementia reduce psychological elder abuse and improve the quality of care. The program includes group discussions over Zoom and a self-paced workbook. Researchers will enroll 260 caregivers to see if the program lowers abusive behaviors and boosts caregiving skills.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
KINDER program (group discussions and self-paced workbook)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a practical, low-cost way to prevent psychological elder abuse and improve the quality of care for people with dementia.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage trial with 260 participants, so results may not apply to all caregivers. The program relies on self-reporting, which can be biased, and it may not work for everyone.
