Summary

This study aimed to create a tool that helps doctors decide which patients with severe acute kidney injury (AKI) would benefit from seeing a kidney specialist (nephrologist) after leaving the hospital. Researchers looked at 319 patients who needed dialysis for severe AKI to find risk factors for developing long-term kidney disease. The goal was to improve follow-up care and prevent chronic kidney disease.
