Antifungal drug fails to show promise in brain cancer trial

NCT ID NCT04869449

First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This early-phase study aimed to see if ketoconazole, a drug used for fungal infections, could enter glioblastoma brain tumors in high enough amounts to stop cancer cells from dividing. Only one person took part before the study was stopped early. The main goal was to measure drug levels in the tumor, not to treat the disease directly.
