Old drug, new target: can a common pill fight deadly brain cancer?

NCT ID NCT04869449

Summary

This very early study aimed to see if ketoconazole, a drug used for fungal infections, could get into brain tumors at high enough levels to potentially stop cancer cell growth. Researchers planned to measure drug levels directly in the tumor tissue of a small number of adults with glioblastoma during surgery. The goal was to gather basic information to decide if the drug should be studied further as a possible treatment, but the trial was terminated early.
