Breakthrough trial tests ketamine to halt deadly, unstoppable seizures

Summary
This large, Phase 3 trial is testing whether adding the drug ketamine to the standard seizure medication levetiracetam can stop a dangerous condition called status epilepticus more effectively. Status epilepticus is a prolonged, life-threatening seizure that doesn't stop on its own. The study will enroll 770 patients, including children, who have not responded to initial emergency treatment to see which drug combination works best and is safest.
