New Self-Assessment quiz could help you decide when to see a joint specialist
NCT ID NCT06343857
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether a self-assessment questionnaire for the shoulder, knee, or ankle can help people decide if they need an orthopedic specialist visit. 150 adults who already requested an orthopedic exam filled out the questionnaire. Researchers will analyze the answers to see which questions best predict the need for a specialist.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
self-assessment questionnaire
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple questionnaire that helps people know when to see an orthopedic specialist for joint issues.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study, so results may not apply to everyone. The questionnaire is only a tool, not a diagnosis, and may not replace a doctor's exam.
