Heart surgery patients: could one IV iron shot end Long-Term anemia?

NCT ID NCT07238972

First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving a single dose of intravenous iron the day after heart surgery can reduce the chance of long-term anemia. About 180 adults with low iron or anemia before surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either the iron infusion or a placebo. The main goal is to see if fewer people have anemia 6 months after surgery, which could help them recover better and feel stronger.
