Summary

This trial asks whether a restrictive red blood cell transfusion strategy is as safe as a liberal one for adults on ECMO, a life-support machine for heart or lung failure. Patients will be randomly assigned to receive transfusions only when their hemoglobin drops to 7.0 g/dL (restrictive) or 9.0 g/dL (liberal). The main goal is to compare 90-day survival rates between the two groups.
