New nerve block combo could reduce hip surgery pain in seniors

Summary
This study tests whether combining two nerve blocks (iPACK and adductor canal block) with a numbing drug called ropivacaine can reduce pain and inflammation after total hip replacement. Sixty older adults (65-100 years) having hip surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either the active nerve blocks or a placebo (salt water). The main goal is to see if the blocks lower a blood marker of inflammation called the Systemic Inflammation Response Index (SIRI).
