Can a simple uterine flush boost IVF pregnancy rates?

NCT ID NCT06684951

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study looked at whether flushing the uterus with a low dose of the hormone hCG right after egg retrieval could improve pregnancy rates in women undergoing IVF. Researchers measured immune markers and blood flow in the uterus to see if the flush made the womb more receptive to an embryo. The trial involved 90 infertile women aged 18 to 40.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could point toward a simple way to improve IVF success rates by preparing the uterus for embryo implantation.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed Phase 4 study with only 90 participants. The results may not apply to all women, and the intervention may not significantly improve pregnancy rates.
