Heart plaque changes under the microscope: statin study uses Cutting-Edge CT

NCT ID NCT06603363

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looks at how a short course of high-dose statins affects fatty buildup (plaque) in the heart's arteries. About 140 adults with mild heart disease will get either a statin or a placebo, and advanced CT scans will track changes over 3 months. The goal is to understand who benefits most from statins and whether plaque changes can be remembered by the body after treatment stops.
