Breathing workouts may boost exercise in heart failure patients
NCT ID NCT06510231
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a special breathing exercise program, called inspiratory muscle training, can improve how well the breathing muscles work during exercise in people with heart failure. Researchers will measure blood flow to breathing and leg muscles, and how long participants can exercise. The study plans to enroll 68 adults with heart failure who are already on standard medications.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Inspiratory muscle training (breathing exercises)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple, drug-free way to help heart failure patients breathe easier and exercise longer.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study focused on measuring blood flow changes, not yet proving any major health benefit. The training may not lead to meaningful improvements in daily life.
