Could new lymph node test spare breast cancer patients from debilitating arm swelling?

NCT ID NCT04636710

Summary

This study is testing if doctors can accurately find and test the first lymph nodes that drain from an inflammatory breast cancer tumor using a special imaging scan and dye. Researchers want to see if this less invasive procedure works for this aggressive cancer type, as it could help future patients avoid more extensive lymph node removal surgery and reduce the risk of painful, permanent arm swelling (lymphedema). About 50 women with stage III inflammatory breast cancer will participate at hospitals across the United States.
