Could the Body's own defenses be making a heart infection worse?
NCT ID NCT06871215
Summary
This study aimed to understand if the immune system accidentally attacks the heart in patients with infective endocarditis, a serious heart valve infection. Researchers planned to analyze blood and tissue samples from patients to look for specific immune cells that might be causing extra damage. The goal was to gather knowledge that could lead to new, targeted treatments in the future, but the study was withdrawn before any participants were enrolled.
