New scan could save time and money for prostate cancer patients

NCT ID NCT06828263

First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a type of scan called SPECT/CT can help doctors see if treatment is working in men with advanced prostate cancer. The treatment uses a radioactive drug (Lu-177 PSMA) that targets cancer cells. Researchers want to see if SPECT/CT, which is cheaper and more available than PET scans, can give early clues about how well the treatment is working. About 130 men with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer will take part.
