Heart device procedure may get easier with new imaging technique

NCT ID NCT06007872

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a heart ultrasound method called Intracardiac Echocardiography (ICE) works as well as the standard method (TEE) for placing the Watchman device in people with atrial fibrillation. The Watchman device helps prevent strokes by closing off a part of the heart where clots can form. About 100 participants will receive the device using ICE guidance, and doctors will check if it is placed correctly. If successful, this could make the procedure simpler and more comfortable for patients.
