Scientists induce mild oxygen drop to mimic Alzheimer's symptoms in healthy brains
NCT ID NCT02891343
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looked at whether lowering oxygen levels (hypoxia) can temporarily cause thinking problems similar to Alzheimer's disease in healthy volunteers. The goal was to create a safe, reversible test to help researchers evaluate new Alzheimer's drugs more quickly. Only 6 healthy, right-handed, non-smoking adults participated before the study was stopped early.
