Hypnosis may cool menopause hot flashes without hormones
NCT ID NCT07572981
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether clinical hypnosis and self-hypnosis can reduce hot flashes and improve quality of life in menopausal women who cannot or choose not to take hormone therapy. About 94 women will be split into two groups: one receiving hypnosis sessions and the other receiving supportive conversations with a nurse. Researchers will track symptoms and quality of life over 6 months to see if hypnosis offers lasting relief.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
hypnosis and self-hypnosis sessions
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a drug-free way to manage hot flashes and improve quality of life for menopausal women who cannot use hormone therapy.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 94 participants, and it compares hypnosis to supportive conversation, not a proven treatment. Results may not be conclusive or widely applicable.
