Mind over breath: can Self-Hypnosis ease the anxiety of COPD?

NCT ID NCT04868357

Summary

This study tested whether learning self-hypnosis could help people with severe COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) better manage their anxiety and feelings of breathlessness. 133 hospitalized patients in a pulmonary rehabilitation program were randomly assigned to learn either self-hypnosis or a relaxation technique. The main goal was to see if hypnosis could reduce anxiety and improve quality of life during rehab and for three months afterward.
