Summary
This study looks at whether giving the steroid hydrocortisone through a vein can improve how much people can bend and straighten their new knee after total knee replacement surgery. About 132 adults with knee arthritis who are having their first knee replacement will take part. Some will get the drug and others a placebo, and their knee movement and pain will be checked for up to 2 years after surgery.
