Can remote rehab match In-Person therapy for back pain?
NCT ID NCT07041476
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compared hybrid tele-rehabilitation (online sessions via Zoom) to standard clinic-based therapy for 32 adults with lumbar radiculopathy (sciatica from a slipped disc). Participants did exercises like lumbar stabilization and nerve mobilization. The trial measured pain, disability, muscle strength, and nerve sensitivity. It aims to see if remote rehab can be a practical alternative to in-person visits.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
exercise (lumbar stabilization, Mackenzie, neural mobilization) delivered via tele-rehabilitation or in-clinic
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that hybrid tele-rehabilitation is as effective as in-clinic therapy for easing pain and improving function in people with lumbar radiculopathy.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed trial with only 32 participants. Results may not apply to everyone, and tele-rehabilitation may not suit all patients or conditions.
