NCT ID NCT06192745

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study aims to understand how the light from tablet screens and the type of content children watch before bed affect their sleep, thinking skills, and emotions. Researchers will have 220 children aged 8 to 11 spend one hour before bed either using a bright tablet, a dim tablet, or doing non-screen quiet activities. They will measure sleep duration, quality, and changes in the body's internal clock to see which conditions are most disruptive.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

tablet screen light (bright vs. dim) and media content

What this could lead to

If it works, this could provide clear guidelines for parents on how screen use before bed affects children's sleep and daily functioning.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage study with only 220 children, so results may not apply to all kids. The effects measured are short-term and may not reflect long-term impacts.
