Can a lower statin dose work just as well after a heart attack?

NCT ID NCT06782243

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looked at 190 adults who had a heart attack or unstable angina (acute coronary syndrome) to see if moderate-dose statins could lower LDL cholesterol as effectively as high-dose statins. After 3 months of treatment, researchers measured how many patients reached a 50% or greater drop in LDL levels. They also tracked side effects like muscle pain and liver issues. The goal is to find a balance between effectiveness and safety, especially for patients who may not tolerate high doses.
