Can a warm belly fix nighttime blood pressure?

NCT ID NCT03042988

First seen Jan 16, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study tests whether applying gentle heat to the abdomen overnight can lower dangerously high blood pressure that occurs when lying down in people with autonomic failure. About 20 adults with conditions like Parkinson's or Multiple System Atrophy who have both low blood pressure when standing and high blood pressure when lying down will participate. Researchers will compare heat therapy to a sham treatment to see if it safely reduces nighttime blood pressure and improves morning standing tolerance.
