New pacemaker technique could rival standard for heart failure
NCT ID NCT06241651
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares a newer pacing method called conduction system pacing (CSP) with the standard biventricular pacing (BiVP) in heart failure patients who already have a right ventricular pacemaker and need an upgrade. Researchers want to see if CSP is as good as BiVP at improving heart function over six months. The trial will enroll 66 adults with heart failure and a history of right ventricular pacing.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Conduction system pacing (a type of heart pacemaker) and biventricular pacing (standard pacemaker)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that a newer pacing method works as well as the standard one, offering patients another option for managing heart failure.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 66 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The newer pacing method may not be as effective or could have unexpected risks.
