First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a special diet that promotes a diverse gut microbiome can help people lose more weight and keep it off after bariatric surgery. Sixty adults aged 25-65 who are scheduled for weight-loss surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either standard nutritional advice or advice focused on increasing gut bacteria diversity. Researchers will track changes in gut bacteria, eating habits, taste, and overall health for one year after surgery.
