Gut bacteria may explain why kidney stones form in hot weather
NCT ID NCT07043374
First seen Jan 27, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study looks at how hot and humid environments might increase the risk of kidney stones by changing the bacteria in your gut and how your body processes certain nutrients. Researchers will compare stool and blood samples from 270 people—some with kidney stones and some without—to find differences in gut bacteria and related chemicals. The goal is to better understand why kidney stones form, not to test a new treatment.
