First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a non-hormonal laser treatment for genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM) in women who have completed cancer treatment. GSM causes symptoms like vaginal dryness and pain, which can affect quality of life. The study will compare the laser therapy to a control group in 65 women, using questionnaires and exams to see if symptoms improve.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Non-ablative vaginal Er:YAG laser therapy

What this could lead to

If this works, it could offer a safe, non-hormonal option to ease vaginal dryness and pain for women who have had cancer treatment.

What could go wrong

This is a small pilot study with only 65 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The laser therapy is still experimental and may not work for all women.
