Study aims to uncover why some women develop diabetes in pregnancy
NCT ID NCT06571487
First seen Nov 16, 2025
Summary
This study looks at how growth hormone affects beta-cells, which make insulin to control blood sugar, in women who had gestational diabetes. Researchers will compare women with and without a history of gestational diabetes to better understand risk factors. The goal is to learn more about what causes this condition, not to test a new treatment.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward ways to predict or prevent gestational diabetes in future pregnancies.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early observational study with only 30 participants, so findings may not apply broadly and won't directly lead to a treatment.
