First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 20, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tested whether adding green tea extract to standard metformin treatment can improve insulin resistance in obese children aged 10-18 with prediabetes. 90 participants were split into two groups: one received metformin alone, the other added green tea extract three times daily for 4 months. Researchers measured blood sugar, insulin resistance, and other health markers to see if green tea helps prevent progression to type 2 diabetes.
