Graphene teeth: new hope for teens with painful enamel defects?

NCT ID NCT07329244

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a new type of dental filling made with graphene, a super-strong material, for teenagers aged 10-16 who have weak enamel (a condition called MIH). The fillings are custom-made using a digital scanner and are meant to be more durable and less sensitive than standard options. Researchers will check how well they hold up over 12 months, including pain, wear, and color stability.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Graphene-reinforced CAD/CAM polymer (G-CAM®) used for dental restorations

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a stronger, longer-lasting dental filling option for teenagers with weak enamel, reducing pain and the need for repeat treatments.

What could go wrong

This is a very small, early-stage study with only 30 participants and no comparison group. The graphene material is new, and long-term safety or durability is not yet known.
