NCT ID NCT05720910
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a new way of organizing care for people aged 70 and older who have cancer (breast, lung, colorectal, or prostate) plus at least one other serious health condition. The GERONTE program brings all their doctors and nurses together using a shared digital care plan. Researchers want to see if this improves patients' quality of life after 6 months compared to usual care. About 720 patients from 8 hospitals in France are taking part.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- coordinated care pathway (GERONTE)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could show that a team-based, technology-supported care plan improves quality of life for older adults with cancer and multiple health issues.
- What could go wrong
- This is a study testing a care process, not a new drug or treatment. It may not show a clear benefit, and results may not apply to all hospitals or patients.
