First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested a new questionnaire called the NF-scale, designed to measure sudden mood and thinking changes (neuropsychiatric fluctuations) that can occur in Parkinson disease. 130 French-speaking participants with Parkinson disease and motor fluctuations filled out the questionnaire during both their OFF and ON medication states. The goal was to see if the scale is reliable and accurate for use in clinics and research.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If validated, this scale could help doctors better detect and manage mood and thinking fluctuations in Parkinson disease, improving patient care.
What could go wrong
This is a validation study, not a treatment trial. The scale may not prove reliable or useful in routine practice, and results may not apply to non-French speakers.
