Summary

This trial tests whether a 20-minute foot massage, given daily for three days after open heart surgery, can reduce pain, improve sleep quality, and boost mood. Adults undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting who report significant pain after surgery are randomly assigned to receive the massage or standard care. The study measures pain, anxiety, sleep, and mood using standard questionnaires to see if this gentle therapy aids recovery.

What this could lead to
If effective, foot massage could become a simple, drug-free way to improve recovery after heart surgery, reducing pain and boosting sleep and mood.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial, so results may not apply to everyone. Foot massage is generally safe but may not work for all patients or may have limited effect.
