Neck ultrasound may guide fluid delivery during surgery
NCT ID NCT05185141
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether a simple neck ultrasound can help doctors predict if a patient needs more fluids during major abdominal surgery. About 84 adults having planned abdominal surgery will take part. The goal is to see if changes in blood flow in the carotid artery can reliably show who will benefit from extra fluids, potentially reducing complications.
