Summary

This study tested whether a drug called Polaramine can prevent dangerous drops in blood pressure when patients are taken off a heart-lung machine during aortic valve replacement. The trial enrolled 18 men and postmenopausal women. Researchers measured heart rate balance and other factors to see if Polaramine helps stabilize the body's automatic nervous system during surgery.
