Summary

This study examines whether volunteers who are alerted by a smartphone app can improve survival for people who have a cardiac arrest outside the hospital. Researchers will compare outcomes for about 5,200 adults in Emilia-Romagna, Italy, who either did or did not receive help from a volunteer first responder. The study does not involve any experimental treatments and only uses data already collected during routine emergency care.
