Can apps replace paper diaries for obesity patients on new drugs?

NCT ID NCT07194317

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested three digital diet-tracking apps (Nutritics-Libro, MyFood24, and Intake24) in 64 adults with obesity who were about to start GLP-1 medications like Wegovy. Participants used each app for three days over three weeks. The goal was to see which app patients and doctors find easiest to use in routine care. This is a feasibility study, not a treatment trial, so it focuses on usability and patient experience.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

digital dietary assessment tools (Nutritics-Libro, MyFood24, Intake24)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help clinics easily track diet in patients on weight-loss medications, improving nutritional care.

What could go wrong

This is a small feasibility study with only 64 participants. It tests usability, not health outcomes, so results may not apply broadly.
