New CT-Based method could predict hip fractures before they happen

NCT ID NCT06270758

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study checks if a computer tool called BBCT-hip can accurately predict the risk of breaking the thigh bone (femur) when a person falls. Researchers will enroll 300 postmenopausal women with osteoporosis—150 who have already had a fracture and 150 who have not. All will get a CT scan, and the tool will use the scan plus height and weight to estimate fracture risk. The goal is to see if BBCT-hip can tell apart those at higher risk, which could help prevent future fractures.
