Could a 'Poop Pill' help tame arthritis and gut diseases?

NCT ID NCT04924270

Summary

This study is testing whether taking capsules containing processed stool from a healthy donor can help people newly diagnosed with certain inflammatory diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease, or ulcerative colitis. About 200 participants will receive either these special capsules or a placebo (dummy pill) once a week for a month, while also starting standard first-line treatment. Researchers will track changes in physical health, fatigue, and disease activity over a year to see if the stool transplant approach is safe and helpful.
