First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 38 times

Summary

This study looked at how Mexican-American families discuss their risk for diabetes, heart disease, breast cancer, and colon cancer. About 498 adults from Mexican-American households in Houston took part in interviews about their medical history, beliefs, and family communication. Researchers used this information to understand how culture and family ties help or hinder sharing health information and adopting healthier habits. The goal is to design better ways to talk about disease risk in Mexican-American families.
