Expert phone call may save lives in bleeding emergencies

NCT ID NCT05928091

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether having a specialist give advice by phone during emergencies helps patients with severe bleeding who take blood thinners. About 1,000 patients will be treated either with standard care or with added expert guidance. Researchers will compare how well bleeding is controlled and track complications over 3 months.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that getting expert advice during emergencies leads to better care and fewer complications for patients on blood thinners.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage study testing a process, not a new drug. Results may not apply to all hospitals or patients, and the benefit may be small.
