Nursing Students' back pain targeted in new exercise study
NCT ID NCT07167888
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at how common neck and low back pain is among nursing students at the University of the West Indies, and tests whether a spine-specific exercise program works better than general exercises to ease that pain. About 400 students with pain will be randomly assigned to one of two exercise groups for 8 weeks. The goal is to see if the targeted exercises reduce discomfort and improve daily function.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- exercise program (spine-specific vs. non-spine specific)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a simple exercise program to reduce neck and back pain in nursing students.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study in one university, so results may not apply to other groups. The exercises may not provide lasting relief.
