NCT ID NCT06798571
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at how estrogen levels affect the way women's bodies handle heat stress. Researchers will compare premenopausal and postmenopausal women aged 42-64, using drugs to temporarily adjust estrogen levels. The goal is to understand why older women are at higher risk during heat waves, which could lead to better protection strategies.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could help explain why older women are more vulnerable to heat waves and point toward ways to protect them.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase study (24 participants) focused on basic body responses, not a treatment. Results may not apply to all women or lead to direct health advice.
