Can estrogen protect women from heat stress? new study investigates
NCT ID NCT06798571
First seen Apr 12, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study looks at how estrogen levels affect the way women's bodies handle heat. Researchers will compare premenopausal and postmenopausal women aged 42 to 64 to see if lower estrogen after menopause makes it harder to cool down. Participants will be exposed to mild heat while their skin blood flow, sweating, and core temperature are measured. The goal is to understand why older women are more at risk during heat waves.
